The
The faculty is actively seeking grants and scholarships from varied organizations. This includes funding in support of the service-learning and international research efforts of Honors College at FIU, as well as for the educational, environmental, and humanitarian programs Project Amazonas develops in partnership with the faculty and students of the Amazon Program. This will enable The Honors College and Project Amazonas to sponsor future students enrolled in the Amazon Program. The Amazon Program faculty have developed a list of potential funding sources that support service learning, international service, study abroad programs, and humanitarian and environmental research and development projects. Students are provided with a grant-writing workshop organized by a professional grant-writer to help in identifying appropriate foundations and in proposal writing. Additional funding will come from activities such as raffles and sales of T-shirts, and miscellaneous conventional fundraising, as well as through commercial sponsorships. Latin American Caribbean Center Grants - Additional funding from the Latin American Caribbean Center may be applied for by FIU students. This center is located on the FIU campus, and students may request application forms upon signing up for the Amazon Program. Office of International Studies - Students with demonstrated need may apply for grants of $300 to $500 from the Office of International Studies at FIU (OIS). Other sources of funding for study abroad programs: The links below provide additional options for applying for financial aid/funding for study abroad and service activities. We encourage all students who sign up for the Amazon Program to visit these sites for additional options. http://educationabroad.fiu.edu/page.php?c=financial%20matters http://www.studyabroadfunding.org/ http://www.servicelearning.org/instant_info/funding_sources/index.php |
