ANITA SHARMA
Director, Conflict Prevention Project Woodrow Wilson Center
Anita Sharma, Director of the Conflict Prevention Project at the Woodrow Wilson Center has developed expertise in Conflict Prevention, International Development, International Security, and U.S. Foreign Policy. She has most recently served as Information and Reporting Officer, Iraq Transition Initiative, International Organization for Migration, and as Foreign Policy Advisor, for the John Kerry for President Campaign 2004. She has also been an Elections Observer and Supervisor for Kosovo Elections in 2001 and 2002, served on the Council of Europe and Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). Her experience also includes posts as Research Associate at the Role of American Military Power, Association of the U.S. Army and Program Associate and Research Coordinator at the Carnegie Commission on Preventing Deadly Conflict.
She has published numerous articles on “Preventing the Next Wave of Conflict: Understanding Non-Traditional Threats to Global Security,” “The UN Bombing: One Month On,” “More Than Victims: The Role of Women in Conflict Prevention,” “The U.S. Role in the World: Enhancing the Capacity to Respond to Complex Contingency Operations,” among many others. She holds a Masters degree of International Affairs from Columbia University School of International and Public Affairs and has completed Post-Baccalaureate study at Oxford University, St. Peter's College. She has received numerous honors including a Departmental Fellowship, School of International and Public Affairs, Columbia University; and she is a Member of Women in International Security (WIIS), Women in Foreign Policy, Council for Emerging National Security Affairs (CENSA) and the Alliance for American Leadership.
